Barber Trackday

Got to ride a "real" racetrack. It's a huge step up from the local mom and pop tracks we have here.

Home Again

Well I made it there and back in one piece and with no major drama. The ride across Texas was hot and windy as scripted but since I was starting a little closer it wasn't as big of a hassel as in the past.

Picked up a souvenier from the trip, T-shirt that shows Utah does have a sense of humor after all...

Except for being in the middle of the downwind smoke from the forest fires in Alpine Arizona for a couple of days the ride was awsome. I can't wait to get back out and do it again.

I'll put together a small video later in the week.

Durango to ????

Well the plan was to ride to Amarillo today so I could make the last day to Dallas a shorter run early in the morning and maybe miss the 100 degree heat.

Then I ran into this in my path and decided to call it a day in Tucamcari, NM...

Drivers coming from that directions said there were 60 mph winds and large hail in that thing.

Catching up on pics

Escalante - just the best moto road around with amazing scenery

Glen Canyon/Lake Powell

Monument Valley

Huge rock outcroppings stand above the plain...

The road...

Hmmm...

Glen Canyon dam bridge

There is something subtly unnerving about being 700 feet high even if you can't look down.

No news IS good news

One of the great side effects of riding around the wilderness is not hearing all of the daily news. Unless World War III starts I doubt I'll miss anything worth knowing. If it does start I might just stay out here.

Bryce Canyon

Pictures and words just don't describe this place.

Wandering Literally

I've decided to change my route to loop south to Monument Valley and skip the Canyonlands area. Sitting in Escalante now waiting for lunch. All of those winding roads wear me out.

Fail of the day - recorded the ride through my all time favorite road and didn't have an SD card  installed!

In Salt Lake City

Saturday at the races was good. Decent weather we got a ton of pictures during the qualifying and practice rounds. Sunday was more of an arctic expedition with cold wind and rain...BRRRRR

Made it to Santa Fe

Long day of riding into the wind but it feels good to put day 1 behind me. Pam comes through with another great place to stay. Wish I had more time to check out the shops and art studios.

Ran into a guy riding an older model BMW who left Key West 5 days ago - that is stamina.

Riding in West Texas is all about WIND

Nothing like a solid 30 mph headwind to kill the gas milage. I'm getting about 30 mpg instead of my normal 40-45.

Did "The Ducati Experience" today in Dallas

I finally got to ride a Ducati Diavel - if I was going to get a cruiser I could live with this one.

Of course I could get used to having my own umbrella girls too...

It Lives! The Track Bike that is...

After lot's of removing and replacing and bending and painting it's ready to go for another season - in all new colors!

My blog is now connected to Facebook

Now I can annoy a lot more people with my ramblings at one time.

Spot Tracking Map is up

Built the live map for the Spot tracker and we'll see how it works on my blog. I picked up a new Spot Connect for this year that lets me send text messages from my phone via sattelite comm's when I'm outside of a service area. The marketing hype says it will let me post to Facebook and that sort of thing but it's REALLY vague and confusing about how this is actually done. We shall see.

In the Beginning...

So, starting a new blog using yet another Google based tool.  I plan to use this site for my 2011 motorcycle exploits and possibly any other random rambling that may strike me as worthy of the time to type.

Leaning it at ECR
